I made it to Edinburgh!
I arrived here at about 7:40 this morning, so it was still dark when we flew in. But it turned into a beautiful day full of blue skies and sunshine. I haven't connected with any non-Americans yet; all the people I met at orientation were American. I'm meeting a couple of them for dinner tonight. I met a guy from Boston this morning; he helped me not get lost finding where we had orientation this morning even though I was the one with the map. I'm directionally challenged. It's hard though because you meet someone once and unless you exchange full names you probably won't see them again because no one really has phones. I was able to find the two girls I had dinner with on facebook and one of the girls tried to text me because she already has a UK phone, but it didn't go through, so not sure what's up.
Today was a really nice day; it'll be sad when it rains. Also, I don't have class till like 5 tomorrow so not sure what I'll do tomorrow...wander. It's going to be dark when I go to class which is a little sketchy, but hopefully there'll be people in my class who live in Pollocks Hall too so we can walk back together. It's about a 15min walk to George Square [where most of my classes will be] which is the center of campus pretty much. I saw the Elephant House, the apparent birthplace of the Harry Potter series! I'll have to stop in someday..if I can find it again. All of the buildings are soooo pretty with the old architecture and just the quaint lovely feel. I'm in love with the buildings. haha I have a new found love for doors too. There are some pretty cool looking doors around here I'll have to get to photographing. Maybe tomorrow will be a photo adventure! I can see Arthur's Seat, the 'mountain/hill' that one must climb to the top at least once when they're in Edinburgh, from my room window so that's pretty sweeeet.
Okay, well I'm gonna go to bed soon so I get enough sleep! I'm surprised at how well I survived this day. I wasn't really horribly tired until I came back from orientation and started unpacking. Go me! I'm awesome at beating jetlag!
